The next day, May woke up to the sound of her alarm. The night before didn’t go very well. They had been given more jobs for silly things like: not cleaning the sinks well enough, saying that Mrs. Collines was being a little too strict, and eating their supper too slowly.
May got out of bed and woke the others up, “We have a busy day ahead of us, so we need to get up.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” Rebeca said, tiredly.
The girls quickly got out of bed and got ready for the school day. Then May looked at the time, “It’s only six forty-five! Maybe I got us up a little bit too early, I just didn’t want to be late to breakfast.”
“Well, now we have more time to get to know each-other a little bit more.” Said Maraline excitedly,
“Or,” said Rebeca with a grin on her face, “We could get to know the school a bit more.”
“Rebeca!” Maraline said shocked,
“What? They never said we couldn’t, so why not?” Rebeca argued,
“She has a point,” Jasmine said, “Mrs. Collins had told us about the rest of the stuff she punished us for, but not this.”
“I suppose,” May concluded, “Maraline, are you coming?”
“I suppose I have to, to keep you out of trouble,”
“Yes!” Rebeca said enthusiastically,
The girls quietly went out of there room, and into the hallway that lead to the other dorms. As they walked past an empty room with an open door, May peaked inside, the room was beautiful, the beds were new and it had wonderful comforters to keep the girls warm.
“The question is, if this room is empty, why didn’t it go to someone with a bad room like us?” May thought
sadly, “Their probably using this room for some other purpose,”
“Shh, do you hear that?” Rebeca asked,
“No, what is it?” Jasmine said nervously,
“I think someone is coming,” Rebeca said starting to panic, “We need to leave now, run!” The girls ran very fast past the empty room until they reached their room. Inside they all tumbled, breathing deeply.
“That was scary,” May said, “I don’t think I will be able to do that again for a while. Maybe we can take note of when Mrs. Collines is patrolling to find a good time.”
“Yeah, that would be good,” Jasmine said,
“I still don’t think you should be doing this,” Maraline said, “You will get into trouble, you know.”
“Don’t be so sure Maraline, we can be sneaky.”
“Maybe, but I don’t like to take the risk.” Maraline said with a sigh, resigned.
