Tolie ran to intercept the ball flying toward her at top speed. She caught it in the Shabone, a stick attached to a net, and passed it to her teammate to start the final Crylee of the game. All teams were tied and this would determine who would win the game.
A Crylee was a common tactic in which a pair of teammates repeatedly pass the ball back and forth between players until the payers either lost the ball or made a goal. Once you had moved down the field you couldn’t move backwards until a team scored a goal in the ring. This tactic kept the ball slightly out of reach.
Team two started an offense circling Tolie and Usina, Tolie’s teammate and neighbor. Teams three and four started pushing team two back and pulling in themselves. They almost had her surrounded, and as her team’s last chance Tolie flung the ball towards the loop and scored, she had won the game! Tolie and Usina celebrated as they made their way off the field.
“Congratulations you two!” A voice called from the stands, it was Tolie’s father, a thin sturdy fellow with dark brown hair,
“Thanks dad!” Tolie said, “This game was one of the most fun I have ever played,
thanks for teaching us.”
“You’re welcome, it’s a pleasure.”
“Where is mom?” Tolie asked,
“She went to get a drink a few minuets ago, so she probably doesn’t know you won yet. She should be back soon.” Her father answered. Tolie saw her mom making her way towards her with a big grin on her face.
“I need to go, my father is gesturing me over, see you tomorrow at practice Tolie, great job!” Usina said, waving goodbye,
“I’m sorry I didn’t see your game winning point,” her mother had found her way over to them, “but everybody I asked said it was very close, great job Tolie. I am very proud of you.”
“Thanks mom,” Tolie said,”
Scream’s erupted from the crowd. There were five men in black racing through the stadium on horseback, “Tolie, Get down, now!” Tolie ducked down,
“Let’s get out of here!” Tolie whispered scaredly,
“I need to help the city from these bad men, you and your mother should run right now!” Tolie’s father yelled, “GO!”
“But…” Tolie said panicked, “JUST GO,” “Tolie your father is right, we need to leave,” her mother added, trying to yank Tolie away, but it was too late, the rebels came right up to Tolie and her family, “Give it to me,” one of the men said in a gravely voice to her father, “No,” he responded calmly, “never,” “Very well, I guess I will just have to take her, a needles job is never done.” “Mom, run. Don’t let them take you!” Tolie said, beginning to panic, “not mother, he wouldn’t!” Instead, he grabbed Tolie, snickering while they dragged her through the street filled with people. “Tolie!” Her father yelled as he chased after them, “I’m coming!” He wasn’t able to keep up and was lost by the time they arrived at the abandoned building that used to be the barber shop. “Don’t take mother, no!” The man who grabbed her said in a high squeaky voice, mocking her and chuckling again, “Did your father not tell you anything?” The man had dark brown hair and glasses, “I am not going to tell you about my life. Bring me home.” “No, we need you, we are not taking you home. If you won’t tell us, we will have to get the information out of you somehow.” “What are you going to do with me?” Tolie asked, getting scared, “You’re not telling us so we won’t tell you quite yet. One thing I will tell you is to call me Oncle,” “WHAT!” Tolie yelled, “My uncle would never kidnap me!” “There’s a good reason for your kidnap, or let me say, borrowing. I never said I was your uncle! I said Oncle!” Tolie ranted on, pretending not to hear, “I’m sure, there’s always a good reason to kidnap your niece.” “I’M NOT YOUR UNCLE,” “Then who are you?” Tolie said glad that she could easily sway his emotions, “I am Oncle! Head needle!” He said getting angry, “but I will not harm you. I just want your talent of spying, pretending to be someone else, and getting information. “what is a needle? Also, who said I was good at that?” Tolie asked, curious “Your father.” “WHAT!”
